Treatments for arthritis include physical therapy, which is also available and very useful in prevention and treatment. Exercise or lack there of is a huge contributing factor.

Drugs:

While natural and holistic alternatives are preferred as they address some of the causes of arthritis, some people turn to drugs to relieve their symptoms.

There are two main types that can be used to help treat arthritis in different ways.

Drugs that specifically treat the symptoms such as chronic pain and stiffness of joints.

  • Non-steroidal Anti-Inflammatory

Drugs that suppress the inflammatory disease to try and improve the overall outcome.

These drugs are disease modifying anti-rheumatic and are used to treat the inflammation.

Surgery:

They may suggest surgery if a joint is severely damaged and causes you extreme difficulty or renders you disabled. Also considered when no other treatment is helping.
